HOMEWORK CORNER History Study Guide due Thursday DUE TODAY - Standards: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the te Objective: 1. SWBAT determine what Clarisse thinks is the biggest problem in society, and identify the evidence she uses to support her claim. 2. SWBAT demonstrate understanding of the main events that occur on pages 29-39 of Fahrenheit 451 by writing a level 3/4 summary. DO NOW Write down your homework. Have all materials ready to go! DIRECT/COLLAB As a class, we will read pages 25-28. Scholars will be given a graphic organizer to complete with their partner. We are seeking to answer the question: What does Clarisse think is the biggest problem in their society? What evidence does she use to support her claim? After going over the graphic organizer, scholars will answer the essential question independently in their packet. We will then read pages 29-39 together. Partners will complete comprehension questions. INDEPENDENT/EXIT TICKET Scholars will be provided with the Summary Rubric. They will have approximately 15 minutes to write their summary of pages 29-39. With any time left over, scholars will complete a Learning Log and read silently. Happy Friday! DUE TODAY Mechanical Hound CEEEEL + visual representaiton Standard: California History 7.2 Objective: SWBAT define Jihad by identifying the central ideas of primary and non-primary sources Direct: Students will contextualize and learn about Jihad, and the connection to the Islamic faith. Essential Question: What is Jihad? Collaborative: Students will work on source documents A, B, and C with their partners. Exit Ticket: Students will work on Source D and create a thesis statement answering the essential question, "What is Jihad?" HOMEWORK CORNER

CEEEEL draft (Is the Hound a danger to Humans?) Standards: W.7.1 & R.L.7.1 Objective: SWBAT develop and strengthen their writing by analyzing the 7th Grade CEEL rubric and giving/receiving peer feedback. DO NOW- 10 minutes Silent Reading Homework Check- I am checking for completion and effort!! DIRECT- 30 minutes We will analyze the 7th grade CEEL rubric in preparation for their Mechanical Hound CEEEEL paragraphs. CEEL PRESENTATION HERE! IND/COLLAB Scholars will type their Mechanical Hound CEEEEL drafts into a Google Doc, then attach it to Peer Grade. All scholars will provide feedback to 2 peers anonymously. After having a chance to receive feedback, scholars will then have the opportunity to go back and make edits/revisions to their work. Scholars will explore the Design Plan Document: Design Plan Document Students: You will need to MAKE A COPY of this document and SHARE it with me to submit your design plan. Do not send me separate emails. 2. Scholars will revisit p. 21-25 and complete the graphic organizer provided. Essential question: The mechanical hound presents a danger to humans. Agree or disagree? Task: Write a CEEEEL paragraph responding to the essential question. Your exit ticket will be your CEEEEL paragraph TYPED in a Google Doc. I hope you're ready to THRIVE in Week FIVE :) HOMEWORK CORNER Mechanical Hound design plan (tomorrow) Mechanical Hound paragraph description (Thursday) Mechanical Hound final project (Friday) 2 passed iReady lessons for the week (I reduced it to 2 lessons due to this being a short week) DUE TODAY Vocabulary quiz is today! I will be checking Page 12 comprehension questions for Group A, as well as any missing homework from last week (pages 4, 8, and 12 for ALL students). Standards CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.1 Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. Objective SWBAT demonstrate an understanding of the mechanical hound character in Fahrenheit 451 by collecting evidence from the text to support claims. DO NOW- 10 minutes Study your vocab! QUIZ- 10 minutes Do your personal best to correctly fill in each blank! Direct- 30 minutes Scholars will begin by completing a review of pages 15-21 with their assigned partner. They will be given a summary of these pages, and asked to answer brief comprehension questions. We will go over the answers to each question. As a class, we will ready pages 21-25 in the book while listening to the audio. COLLABORATIVE- 30 minutes Scholars will be given a list of claims characterizing the mechanical hound. With their partner, scholars will cite evidence from pages 21-25 to support each claim. INDEPENDENT- rest of class Scholars will begin their mechanical hound art project!
