Welcome back, everyone! I hope you're ready to THRIVE in Week FIVE :) HOMEWORK CORNER Mechanical Hound design plan (tomorrow) Mechanical Hound paragraph description (Thursday) Mechanical Hound final project (Friday) 2 passed iReady lessons for the week (I reduced it to 2 lessons due to this being a short week) DUE TODAY Vocabulary quiz is today! I will be checking Page 12 comprehension questions for Group A, as well as any missing homework from last week (pages 4, 8, and 12 for ALL students). Standards CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.1 Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text. Objective SWBAT demonstrate an understanding of the mechanical hound character in Fahrenheit 451 by collecting evidence from the text to support claims. DO NOW- 10 minutes Study your vocab! QUIZ- 10 minutes Do your personal best to correctly fill in each blank! Direct- 30 minutes Scholars will begin by completing a review of pages 15-21 with their assigned partner. They will be given a summary of these pages, and asked to answer brief comprehension questions. We will go over the answers to each question. As a class, we will ready pages 21-25 in the book while listening to the audio. COLLABORATIVE- 30 minutes Scholars will be given a list of claims characterizing the mechanical hound. With their partner, scholars will cite evidence from pages 21-25 to support each claim. INDEPENDENT- rest of class Scholars will begin their mechanical hound art project!
