iReady: 45 lessons Achieve: See tracker on Resources Page HOMEWORK CORNER Please be completing any makeup assignments over the weekend. Standards: RL 7.2/3; W 7.1; SL 7.1 Objective: SWBAT describe how Elie Wiesel's loss of faith during the Holocaust made him more or less strong through collaborative discussion and writing a CEEEEL paragraph. Guiding Question: Elie Wiesel's loss of faith during the Holocaust makes him stronger. Agree or Disagree. DO NOW- 10 minutes Students will put the events from Night in order from 1 to 9. INDEPENDENT- Reading Time and Preparation for Discussion Students will independently read up to p.77 in the text, if they have not done so already. When finished reading, students will answer the provided comprehension questions independently. Ms. Francavillo will provide quick feedback on these responses. Using the text and their answers from the comprehension questions, students will answer the pre-discussion questions. COLLABORATIVE DISCUSSION CFS: I participated in the discussion verbally by sharing ideas and asking questions. I displayed evidence of active listening through the use of nonverbal hand signals, note taking, and eye contact. I was respectful to other participants of the collaborative discussion and their points of view. INDEPENDENT- REFLECTION AND WRITING TIME Students will first reflect on the effectiveness of today's discussion and write one shout-out for a student who they feel made a positive contribution to class. Students will revisit the essential question to write their claims. Independent writing time- CEEEEL paragraph. CFS: Claim clearly takes one side, two pieces of evidence to support position, two explanations to connect evidence to claim, link to wrap up argument. Comments are closed.
