Welcome back, everyone! Let's have a fantastic Week 3!
Reminder: Back to School night is WEDNESDAY! On Wednesday, scholars will be attending all periods. HOMEWORK CORNER iReady: 3 passed lessons due Friday. Please note how iReady will be scored: zero = scholar did not attempt lessons, or did not attempt them in good faith. 1 = scholar attempted lessons in good faith, but did not pass. 2 = scholar passed 1 iReady lesson. 3 = scholar passed 2 iReady lessons. 4 = scholar passed 3 or more iReady lessons. iReady assignments cannot be made up, and lessons do not roll over to the next week. Scholars are expected to start fresh every week. Each week is another opportunity to earn a 4! :) DUE TODAY Vocabulary quiz! I hope you studied! :) Standards CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.1 Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text. Objectives SWBAT demonstrate comprehension of The Pedestrian and its central ideas by answering text dependent questions. Do Now- 10 minutes Scholars will have 10 minutes to study for their vocabulary quiz. Last chance! Vocabulary Quiz- 15 minutes Quizzes must be completed independently at voice level 0. If a student is caught cheating, they will automatically receive a zero. Direct- 10 minutes Ms. Francavillo will introduce students to the story The Pedestrian and give instructions on the day's activities. Collaborative- 45 minutes Scholars will read The Pedestrian with their assigned partners. Partners will alternate reading paragraphs. Scholars are expected to be annotating their texts using CATCH, paying particular attention to vocabulary. If you do not know the definition of a word in the text, circle it! Look it up in the classroom dictionary, and write a synonym above the word! After partners complete reading the text for the first time, they will answer guiding questions together. These questions must be completed and checked by Ms. Francavillo before the end of the period. Independent- remainder of class After questions have been checked and approved, scholars will move on to Independent time. At this time, scholars will have time to complete a Learning Log and begin this week's iReady lessons. Comments are closed.
