HOMEWORK CORNER
1. Prerequisite work for L11: All prior lessons, and Independent Reading Structure for p.31-37. Students that do not have these assignments completed and turned in will be considered unprepared. Unprepared students receive both demerits AND lunch detention. 2. iReady: 3 passed lessons due Friday (Total: 9). Remember, you must complete and turn in the iReady tracker to receive credit. Failure to turn in the tracker will result in NO CREDIT GIVEN!!!!! 3. Achieve: See the tracker on the RESOURCES page. LEXILE AWARDS ARE NEXT WEEK. DUE TODAY - ****Before we start Lesson 11, NYU and UMW cohorts will be completing the final 2 steps of Lesson 10. Then, students will read p.31-38 independently and complete the Independent Reading Structure. Independent reading must be done prior to starting Lesson 11. We will START L11 today, but we will continue and complete it tomorrow. Standard: RL 7.3 Objective: SWBAT characterize Mercedes, and explain why London has included her in this section of the text. DO NOW Students will complete their Word of the Day vocabulary sheet for Lesson 11 (today’s word is dainty. Bonus points if you can correctly use today’s word in your exit ticket!) We will debrief as a class. INDEPENDENT If students have not already completed the Independent Reading Structure for p.31-38, they will need to complete it before starting Lesson 11. DIRECT/COLLABORATIVE Students will review today’s CFS, complete warm-up questions, and review STEAL. STEP 1: Complete STEAL on page 2 of this packet. STEP 2: Analyze London’s attitude towards Mercedes on page 3 of this packet. STEP 3: Prepare for collaborative discussion of the essential question on page 4. STEP 4: Discuss the essential question.
