Lesson 13 paragraphs DUE TOMORROW "Structure of a Poem" CAASPP Review Standards: RL 7.2, Review of Writing Standards Objective: SWBAT demonstrate that they are CAASPP READY by completing test-prep items. Today, students are receiving another TASK LIST: TASK 1. Read p.59-65 in A Raisin in the Sun and answer the comprehension questions provided. This may be done independently OR with a partner (student choice). TASK 2: Complete the CAASPP Practice for Phrases and Clauses. **I will be trying to fit in some grammar/editing practice daily leading up to the test. TASK 3: Complete the CAASPP Practice items for Editing. If you finish all 3 tasks, please turn in your packet in exchange for a raffle entry and a candy! Students that finish early should make sure that their to-do list from FRIDAY is complete (including the ListenWise assignment, last week's CAASPP practice, and Determining Word Meanings packet). If a student is up-to-date on their to-do list items, they should work on iReady. Advanced Readers should prepare for today's meeting or read silently. Standards: R.L.7.2

I will be successful today by… Identifying and defining key vocabulary words while reading pages 56-59 of the play. Gathering evidence from selected portions of the text in a graphic organizer to answer the essential question Preparing for and participating in a collaborative discussion. Writing a CEEEEL paragraph to respond to the essential question. Direct: Review the essential question and CFS for today’s lesson Identify and define key vocabulary words while reading pages 56 - 59 of the text. (CFS 1) Collaborative/Independent: During the second read of the text, students will focus on selected portions of the reading and gather evidence to answer the essential question and fill out a graphic organizer (CFS 2). After gathering evidence related to the essential question, students will prepare for and participate in a brief collaborative discussion where they debate the correct answer to the essential question. (CFS 3). Scholars will discuss their findings with the group before writing their CEEEEL paragraph. Exit Ticket: Scholars will answer the essential question in CEEEEL format. Do Now: Silent Reading Independent: Students will be given 4 tasks for the day. They may complete them in any order. Task 1: Make sure that the packet “Determining Word Meanings” is done. Check it with a partner, then turn it in. Task 2: Go to https://listenwise.com/students/sign_up and sign up for a student account using your Alliance Google account. Join my class with the code: charmed-hound-0461 Complete the assignment “Motivation for Writing ‘A Raisin in the Sun’” by listening to the presentation, completing the graphic organizer, and answering the questions. Task 3: CAASPP Practice Questions- Editing Task 4: Figurative Language Review Tasks A and B ***if you finish all of these tasks, work on iReady!*** Completed tasks will earn raffle tickets when you show Ms. Francavillo. Do Now: Silent Reading Collaborative: We will be taking a practice CAASPP CAT exam in teams! -Teams of 3 -Time to preview/attack questions -Time given to read/annotate as a team -Time given to complete the section's questions. We will go over as a group and award points. Candy for students that thoroughly and accurately justify their answers!
